Oz for a Cause bears up three average young men from Los Angeles, California to Australia; whereupon they will circumnavigate the continent by bictcle to raise over $1 million for charity (Surfrider Foundation - Australia & Child Foundation).

Oz for a Cause is gearing up three young men in their early twenties in an attempt to ride bicycles over 10,000 miles around Australia. In partnership with two selected charities, The Child Foundation and The Surfrider Foundation (Aus), these average city slickers" with little familiarity of the outdoors and no experience with the wilds of Australia, will embark on an unforgettable adventure by early February 2005.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 9, 2004 -- Oz for a Cause is a physical, mental, and emotional challenge to raise global awareness and money to benefit underprivileged children and the environment. Oz for a Cause is encouraging all individuals and all entities worldwide, to rally behind a positive cause. For the selected charities in particular, but also to promote a global community in general by use of the internet and film media. By utilizing a global community that is dedicated to bettering our world, the riders believe they will exceed their goal of $1 million for charity and in the process raise the expectations of todays youth, to realize what is possible when belief and determination are combined.

Being young adults themselves, Oz for a Cause understands that "preaching" to young people most often generates the opposite of the desired result. The most effective means possible is to film the journey as a documentary with its struggles and triumphs and use it as a medium. By using film, young people will be able to watch the three riders, journey with them, struggle with them, be able to identify with them - and ultimately think that they could do what the riders are doing and do it better. Current media is full of real life scenarios of people thrown together and encouraged to succeed at the cost of others. The riders goals are to help each other to rise above self interest and to achieve for the greater good of the group.

Oz for a Cause is raising awareness and money for two very important areas of concern. The Child Foundation, which follows the United Nation's millennium goals and mission, is an organization dedicated to giving disadvantaged, talented children, around the world, the opportunity to attend school. The Surfrider Foundation (Aus) is dedicated to the protection and enhancement of Australia's oceans, waves, and beaches for all to enjoy.
